Sacramental Preparation

Printer-friendly version

St. Anne's parish offers sacramental preparation for children who are baptized Catholic.  The sacrament of Baptism is offered at infancy.  Grade 2 is the typical time for children to celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation and receive the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist.  In preparing children and their families for these sacraments, we follow the principle that parents are always the primary catechist of their children.  With this in mind, our programs are for parents and their children together and include a home component to assist parents in preparing their children for these sacraments.  For more information, please contact the Sacramental Preparation Coordinator, Erin Gratton, at the parish office (931-4700) or by email at stasacraments@gmail.com

Confirmation - Confirmation is celebrated in the spring during the Easter season.  The preparation program is 7 weeks long beginning the week of April 15th.  To celebrate Confirmation, a child must be baptized Catholic.  Although it is common for children to celebrate Reconciliation before Confirmation, they are not required to do so and may celebrate Reconciliation later at their parents' discretion.  If children are older than Grade 2 and have not yet been confirmed, please contact Erin Gratton at the parish office to make arrangments for preparation in these cases.  Children older than Grade 2 are generally confirmed with those receiving the Confirmation and First Communion Sacraments in Grade 2.

First Holy Communion - First Holy Communion is celebrated alongside Confirmation.  Both of these sacraments are received at the same celebration and children are prepared for both sacraments with one program.
